F.R. note: for similar birds see the top-centre of the Louvre palette (E11052) recto, wherein the bird has longer beak and legs but the same rendering of plumage and the top-centre of the Hierakonpolis palette in Oxford (Ashmolean Mus. E3924) on which the bird (an ostrich?) has its small wings outstretched.
